The notebook has been around forever. Do you remember your first one? It probably had very wide lines and perhaps a spiral binding. You used a fat pencil and traced letters until they became second nature. Before long you learned script. Then you migrated to pens. I don’t know about you but I don’t really care for touchpads at all, I’m accustomed to using a mouse for everything and really just have never liked using the touchpads on laptops and netbooks Sony VGP-BPS8 . What’s in the Box?:

The Verbatim Easy Riser laser Mouse comes in a nice presentation style box with Toshiba PA3356U-1BRS , it opens up in the front to reveal the mouse and the receiver. You can also see both through the windows on the front of the package, and of course the back has the specs and features listed as one would expect.

Inside you’ll find the mouse itself along with batteries, software CD, user manual and the Toshiba PA3383U-1BRS wireless receiver. The receiver is very small as you can see in the comparison shot below:

The mouse itself is silver and black in color and has the standard two buttons, along with the scroll wheel.

On the bottom you’ll find the battery compartment, sensor, on/off switch and the Acer BTP-42C1  connection button. Near the back end is another button or switch that is just to unlock the mouse so it can get larger.

Installation, Performance and Comparison:

I used the Verbatim Easy riser with both my Acer Aspire one battery  D250 netbook and my desktop computer and both Vista and Xp recognized and installed the drivers with no problems. The mouse connected automatically and in about a minute I was up and running with the new mouse.

The Easy Riser is so named because it can rise up if you like a larger profile mouse, just push the switch to unlock it and it will pop up to get higher off of your desk.

In the following pictures you can see the mouse in both positions and in the back view picture you can see where you can also store the USB receiver when not in use.

Now using the mouse is like any other mouse of BTP-58A1 course , point and click, but I found that it didn’t work well on all surfaces I tested.

It worked of course, but some surfaces seemed to make the mouse a bit jittery. It works fine on like a wooden table, but depending on the mouse pad I used I got different results.

Most of the time though people won’t be using a mouse pad, this mouse is meant to take with you and use on whatever surface your laptop or netbook in on, so on a table it works fine.

Conclusion:

The Verbatim Easy Rider Mouse isn’t a bad choice if you’re looking for something to use other than the touchpad on your Acer LCBTP03003   laptop or netbook. It comes with it’s own wireless receiver that stows away inside of the mouse when not in use.

The main feature of course is that the mouse can rise up and get larger, thus giving you basically a full sized mouse to work with instead of a small one.

Tracking is decent, but it depends on the surface you’re working on Acer BTP-60A1 , but most people won’t be using a mousepad so it’s not that big of a concern.

Folks, today might be the day when you start to notice how ancient our smartphones have become, even if they only came out in last few months. Blame Else (formerly Emblaze Mobile) for their confusingly-named First Else, a phone “built from scratch” over the last two years and now powered by Access Linux Platform (ALP) 3.0 — a mobile OS thought to have quietly died out since our last sighting in February. Until today’s London launch event, the last we heard of this Israeli company was from October’s Access Day in Japan where it previewed the Else Intuition OS in Dell Latitude D830 Battery , which we like to think of as inspired by Minority Report.

While it’s still too early to tell whether the First Else — launching in Q2 next year for Dell D5318 – will dodge the path of doom, we were already overwhelmed by the excellence of the device’s user experience, both from their presentation and from our exclusive hands-on opportunity. Do read on to find out how Else is doing it right.

Built from scratch

As the name suggests, the First Else’s main objective is to be different. This may sound like a marketing hype but Emblaze seems serious — it wanted to create not just another phone and Dell GD761 , but rather a brand new mobile user experience (especially the ergonomics, aesthetics and the content delivery system) to upstage the iPhone and the latest Android devices, both of which Else (the design house, not the device) considers to be the market leaders. Eldad Eilam, CTO of Else, explained that this required starting from scratch and using custom technology where possible (such as their proprietary graphics engine), while at the same time the technical details are well-packaged so that they don’t intimidate the users (but not just by wrapping an aging OS with some fancy skin; yes, we’re staring at you, Windows Phone Pavilion DV5000 Battery).

Else started with ALP’s linux foundations, and after two years and 33 partner agreements, it unveiled the Else Intuition OS. When asked about other Linux-based platforms like Android and webOS, Eilam expressed little concern. “Android’s a game-changer… [but] people need to consider that Android doesn’t bring good user experience for their Toshiba PA3399U-2BRS . Else actually did a live demo on their prototype First Else with no visible glitches, and when we had our hands on the device we got the same great responsiveness. Else CEO Amir Kupervas made a good point about how “smart” phones should actually be adapting to us instead of us having to adapt to cluttered menu systems, which led the to birth of sPlay Sony VGP-BPS8  and the fisheye display which provide minimal but necessary information, while keeping a consistent layout and visual aesthetics across different applications. At the same time, these features are positioned within reach of the right thumb, and sPlay takes it further by letting you easily browse different content by just a simple swipe of the right thumb. Kupervas went as far as saying this single-hand operation is “the death of main menu,” mocking most other smartphone platforms. Impressive hardware, interesting service integration

While Else’s focus is on the user experience, it hasn’t compromised on the hardware front: inside it’s got a powerful TI OMAP 3430 processor (as found on the iPhone 3GS, Motorola Droid and Palm Pre), a brilliant 854×480 3.5-inch capacitive LCD touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera which promises to capture 480p video at 30fps, and a 1450mAh battery which claims to outlast the iPhone 3GS by at least one hour. Oh, we dig the OLED indicators at the top as well, leaving us some useful space on the screen. Details on storage capacity are still vague, but right now Else is only saying anything up to 32GB Dell C1295 . There’s no word on where the First Else will make its commercial launch — all we know is that it’ll only operate on HSDPA and EDGE (sorry, Verizon fans).

Speaking of carriers, Else is also working on a self-branded media store which will require no credit card details, thus enhancing the “out-of-the-box experience”. How will it do that, you say? Well, it’ll work very closely with carriers in full partnership with Dell KD476 Dell U4873, and let them charge you at the end of the month. This isn’t totally revolutionary — with the iPhone it’s just a one-off setup on iTunes — but it’s still a nice touch by Else, and we’re sure someone out there will appreciate this extra effort to create a seamless user experience. Similarly, Else will be setting up an app store and they’ll release an SDK at launch. We’ve been told that some big names are already working on the first lot of apps — World of Warcraft was mentioned — and there’ll be an app approval process to ensure the they’ll have the same flow as the handset itself. Good for the users, but probably not so good for the developers.

Wrap-up

There’s a lot of potential here and well done to Else for the work so far, but there are still many uncertainties: pricing, availability, carriers, apps, final device specs and, most importantly, usability in the long run. That’s a lot of of unanswered questions in Dell Latitude D800 Battery — almost enough for us to call this vaporware — but we’re optimistic, as we’ve actually held and played with a working device in person. We’re hoping to hear a lot more about what Else has in store — until then, we can only drool over this final quickie demonstration. Just remember to wipe up afterwards.

Many of you have been wondering what’s up with the state of the release lately… observant birdwatchers might have noticed Kanye has wrapped-up and most of the development team has moved onto the video work slated for Led Zeppelin and Madonna in pa3465u-1brs.

As we wrapped up Kanye, we found a few bugs regarding library management. While we polished these up, we decided to slip in a couple of features, namely support for playlists on MSC devices, broader support for the popular community-tested MSC devices, and a new Feather. If you’ve been following along in Bugzilla and on the Wiki, you might have noticed a new K release, KoЯn which is where this work is landing. Tentatively versioned at 1.4.1, KoЯn is currently slated to release sometime in December. (I have some side comments on the whole minor release thing in a recent blog comment here if you care for more detail on that point).

As I mentioned in that comment, as we tackle larger-scope features such as MSC support, CD Rip, Video playback, it’ll be more likely that we’ll have to tackle these things in phased approaches where you may not see stable releases for every development release (e.g. Jackson 5, Kanye, and possibly the in-progress Led Zeppelin). It would be irresponsible of us to update every Songbird user to a potentially unstable build, so as we wrap up each release – we have to assess whether this release is one we can ship out. If not, we then take a look at whether or not it’s worth the time to do a follow-up minor release (as we’re doing with KoЯn now, and as we did with Gwar in the past). Rest assured, the development nightly builds continue to be spun out every night for those of you who don’t mind living on the edge of Toshiba laptop Battery.

I was getting three red flashes and one green flash continuously on the battery light on the lower right side of the lid which according to the manual means defective battery which turned out to be true. When I was doing research for purchasing a replacement Latitude D620 Battery, I came across a lot of discussions online about Dell laptop not recognizing batteries. I wonder if that is a common issue with Dell. Luckily, mine has no problem.
Everything is good. As long as it can last 1 year or so, It would be worth the money spent.

Owned for 5+ months. I am pleased with this Latitude D830 Battery I was glad to find it at a price much lower than Dell was selling it. It was a great buy. Product came right when I needed it and has worked great for me! Good battery life.
